They do like their hair! Looking at some of the game play it looks quite promising, its been out for a while in china & south korea and is due for release here in Europe in the next couple of months.

RE: Aion Online
I kinda want to try it but the fact that the 3rd faction is NPCs makes we reluctant... I'll stay with DAoC and try the new server and then Origins.

Currently playing DAoC on Ywain

Yeah they have taken up the work on the project again. Since the team that works on DAoC is quite small they have limited resources but it looks like its happening and target seems to be winter sometime.

I can only see origins being another problem like classic, it will work for a while then die off and leave plenty of ppl stuffed once again.

RE: Aion Online
The graphics look good, The PvE gameplay has a nice Daoc feel about it so I hope the PvE is the same. The flying is awesome and I reckon it could be the side of the game that makes it better than RvR/PvP in Daoc. I had no interest at all until witnessing the Beta. Downside is that it has Buffbots, not sure if they are going to be used but If I was flush with money I would have one!!!

RE: Aion Online
Yep, I wasn't interested in the slightest until I played it but it does play very nicely. Not got to the Abyss yet (and won't as the beta servers are going to be wiped) but that feature set seems reasonably well thought out as well.

Buffbots shouldn't be anywhere near the same sort of problem as they were in DAoC. Both priests get some long term buffs which would be bottable as in DAoC - they're single target buffs that just cost a negligible amount of mana to cast and last for 60m. However they are the equivalents of the baseline buffs and aren't nearly as strong.

Also, as there is no real cost or limit to casting them (no concentration or random 20 buff limits and the mana cost really is small), so hopefully it should be fairly easy to get a set when you run past a friendly priest. On the downside though, one class, the spiritmaster, practically specialises in buff shearing and general anti-support stuff.

The spec buff equivalents are done by the chanter, which is the main buff class. They're a bit like a friar or grace warrior priest, in that they're melee with some buffs, debuffs and off healing. Those spec buffs are called mantras and are like skald songs - can't be sheared and only affects people in your group that are in range. Range for the mantras seems to be about the same range as max nuke range, so anyone with a chanter buffbot has to have it stuck on their arse and I suspect it will all go horribly wrong when they try to fly.

RE: Aion Online
I will probably try this as well if things clear up IRL. Havent been on daoc for ages now as things keep getting worse with my grandmother and she is getting worse everyday so ill have to see how that goes. But the game looks pretty solid at least worth a try.
