By request: Dexterity formulas
Have in mind that these formulas are very old, and may have been subject to change. However, I believe that most of the basic combat motorics haven't changed that much, so you will probably get a result close to reality.
I can mention some changes from the back of my head:
*Skalds may now use medium shields, although they still may not spec.
I'd guess the chance of blocking is slightly increased, should be multiplied by 10. (Haven't tested this myself, as I haven't yet swapped my old small Cyclop's Eye shield with a new medium one.)
*Thanes may now use large shields (same formula as warrior).
*Block rates are now hardcapped at 60%, and parry at 50%.
*Type of weapon no longer has an effect (why they changed this is beyond me).
Sanya Thomas Wrote:Q: Hi, I'd like to ask a question about the way that dex affects block, parry, evade. Is the dex bonus to these skills "additive" or "multiplicative"?
Example: if it's additive, let's say that having 200 dex will add the same evade % to a player with evade I (5% base chance) and to a player with evade V(25% chance). Let's say 200 dex gives +X% evade, first player will end with 5+X% evade chance and second with 25+X% evade chance. Similar for parry and block.
If it's multiplicative, let's say that having 200 dex multiplies your base evade chance by X. So 1st player would end with 5*X chance to evade, and second player with 25*X% chance to evade.
A: I used the whole question because it was an excellent and clear description of the difference between additive and multiplicative. What a cool word. Anyhow, the answer is "it's multiplicative."
Kimkasper Wrote:Formula:
Base chance to block/parry/evade from abilities is multiplied by 1% per 100 dex. (From 1-250, and 1% per 200 at 250+ dex)
Examples:
Evade.
Skald with Evade 1 gets 12,5% chance to evade from 250 dex,
while Savage with Evade 4 gets 50% chance from 250 dex.
If the Savage uses his self-buff of 20% more chance to evade he gets a base chance of 100%.
(Evade+Buff) * dex multiplier
Skald: 5*2,5 = 12,5
Savage: 20*2,5 = 50
Buffed Savage: (20+20)*2,5 = 100
Parry.
Skald with Parry 2+15 and MoParry2 gets 46,25% chance to parry with 250 dex.
He gets 25,9% chance with 140 dex. With 310 dex he gets 51,8%.
With MoParry3 and 300 dex he gets 64,625%
Savage with 250 dex and Parry 9+11 gets 37,5% chance to parry.
With his self-buff he gets 87,5% chance.
With Parry 9+14 and MoParry1 he gets 46,25%,
and with self-buff he gets 96,25%.
(5 + (Parry/2) + MoParry + Buff) * dex multiplier
Skald:
310 dex: (5 + 8,5 + 5)*2,8 = 51,8
250 dex: (5 + 8,5 + 5)*2,5 = 46,25
140 dex: (5 + 8,5 + 5)*1,4 = 25,9
300 dex/MoParry3: (5 + 8,5 + 10)*2,75 = 64,625
Savage:
Unbuffed(Parry9+11) : (5+10)*2,5 = 37,5
Buffed(Parry9+11) : (5+10+20)*2,5 = 87,5
Unbuffed(Parry9+14 MoP1) : (5+13,5)*2,5 = 46,25
Buffed(Parry9+14 MoP1) : (5+13,5+20)*2,5 = 96,25
Blocking. (with the qua100 lvl51 shield largest possible for the class)
Warrior with Shield 42+8 gets 100% chance to block with 250 dex.
Warrior with Shield 10 gets 50% chance to block with 250 dex.
Warrior with Shield 1 gets 38,75% chance to block with 250 dex.
Thane with Shield 42 and MoB2 gets 90% chance to block with 250 dex.
Thane with Shield 42 and MoB2 gets 43,2% chance to block with 120 dex.
Thane with Shield 28 gets 28,8% chance to block with 120 dex.
Skald without Shield spec gets 2,5% chance to block with 250 dex.
Warrior: (15 + (Shield/2) + MoB) * dex multiplier (large shield)
Thane: (10 + (Shield/2) + MoB) * dex multiplier (medium shield)
Skald: 1 * dex multiplyer
*Note:
This is intended to calculate your base chance to evade/parry/block, and there are many factors in combat that decreases or increases the chance.
Examples are:
-Type of weapon.
If your opponent is wielding a Two-handed weapon your chance to parry will decrease by 50%.
If your opponent are dual-wielding, your chance to block/evade will decrease by 50%.
-Higher number of attackers will decrease your chance to evade.
-Level/quality/condition of the weapon(s) of your enemy.
-Direction of the attack. It is possible to block/parry/evade from about 180 degree arch in front of you. If you have advanced evade you will evade from all directions, and if you're guarding someone you can block from all directions.
-If your enemy has higher weaponspec and/or weaponlvl than your lvl/rr your chance is decreased. If it's lower, your chance is increased.
I.e. a rr7 minstrel who specced 39+17 in his weapon that is a qua100 lvl51 sword attacks a rr5 skald; the skald will get an increase of his chance to parry/evade/block since the total weaponspec of the minstrel equals lvl56, while to beat the skald he needs at least lvl65 (50+15 or 48+17). The minstrel will also get an increased chance to evade/block since he's 2 realm ranks above (skald was specced 50+15 hammer (also qua100 lvl51) that equals rr5 and needed 50+17 to fully match the minstrel's defence). **The numbers used in this example, is just for making an example, it is not guaranteed accurate with the real DAOC world; since your rr/lvl defence is a hidden number, and I'm not gonna guess how factors count here, including random factors, therefore I can't make a formula for it. It has something to do with class aswell, since WeaponSkill is obviously a factor.
-Finally after these decreases/increases have been made to your base chance to evade, you cannot evade more than 50%, so if your final chance to evade exceeds 50% it's taken down to that cap.
