RE: Classes
Classes: Assassin/Templar.
Crafts: Tailoring/Weaponsmithing. [basically because the materials required for this are all gathered from the same spawn points, so not so much messing around]
Templar: I played beta for a few days 3-4 i think before i was banned, but thats another story. Anyway, i played templar and i have to admit i loved it... but im not sure if i want to play a templar again having already played one. I found tanking quite difficult because a tanks skills arent like in previous games the skills that generate hate doesnt take aggro instantly, it has to be built up overtime and that requires party members to work with you instead of just spamming attacks or heals. I found a group near the last 2 days of beta and i was level 18 the others were 19, the party lasted 3-4 hours and we total party wiped at least 4 times. This was due to my first time playing a tank and the fact that the hate/aggro system here is very delicate and requires the parties to think before attacking. There were a few times where the mobs simply got the best of us and controlling/handling respawn/aggro mobs walking around is quite difficult if the healer heals you before you get chance to use your hate skill then its pretty difficult to get that mob to come back to you.
Quests: My advice is whilst your in an area take all the quests you can get and then go to the area with the most quest objectives at and complete as many as you can, if you get a load of quests and try to do them 1 by 1 you'll level alot slower than you would if you just killed monsters, and the reward items arent that good to be honest. You will make more money/exp/items from simply grinding monsters than if you simply do quests.
Drops/Monsters: If you can kill a monster fast without loosing much HP [IE: you have 0 downtime and no problems killing the monster with a few hits] This means you'll make more money and exp over time than you would killing something that was harder. Not to mention you'd get alot more items.. be they white or green, you may think your not making alot of money and its true you wont be, but with the items you collect and sell to NPC you'll soon find alot of money coming your way, which is why its better to kill monsters who are same level or easier.
Skillbooks: When you visit the starter town/race capital [pandeomonium] you should get all skillbooks you can for the next 2-3 levels because when your out leveling it can be a long travel time back to the town and your town recall skill only works once every 20mins since the last recall. So stock up on skillbooks especially if they are new or upgrades because your skills will level up as you do so if you get a skill at level 5 but dont have the book and level up to 6 then learn it you'll only have a level 2 skill when you hit level 7 instead of level 3.
Learn the skill at level 5, then when you level up to 6 the skill will become level 2, then when you hit 7 your skill will be level 3.
Learn the skill at level 6, then when you level up to 7 the skill will only be level 2 instead of level 3.
PVP: I didnt really have much experience in pvp as the pvp zones dont really start till your level 25... however i decided to go adventuring and i stumbled upon a zone where both races can level in, a call went out in race chat that Elyos were around a waterfall and i saw a few people running so i followed them and we ran into a few enemies, at that point i was spec'd in DMG and Crit Chance so i went after one of the healers and managed to kill her dispite being alot lower level. Hate skills dont seem to work for PVP so using them on enemies wont change their targets or pull them towards you and its quite difficult for templars to keep ontop of an enemy because you dont really have many stun/slow skills at level 20 not sure if this changes later on but for low level pvp Templars arent that good for DPS, i managed to stay alive for a good 5-10mins dispite having 3-4 people hitting me who were all higher level. So dispite being crap at damage dealing you can soak up alot of it, just be prepared for alot of chasing people around.
If anyone has any questions dont be afriad to ask me and i'll try my best to answer.
