Overclocking
Been having major problems with the PC this weekend so decided to wipe it clean and do a fresh install. I was thinking about overclocking my machine but dont know how to do it. Has anyone overclocked their's or does anyone know how to do it. Is it something that can be easily done and will I gain much extra by doing it.

RE: Overclocking
Depending on CPU, RAM and GPU you have and also what M/B you got it can be really easy with good results or pain in the butt with useless results =)

For example the q6600 cpu from intel can easy run at 3.2ghz instead of 2.66 with air-cooling and no heat or other problems.
I can o.c my ram timings and gpu as well very easy to get a good 20-30% overall boost without resorting to watercooling and such.

Easiest way to check to see how high you can get your cpu to run is to get into the bios, and start messing with the voltage of the cpu and add small hops at a time and see if you get a stable run or not, then get the ram and gpu up as well in small steps and see where you end up with a stable o.c result.

Note that you need to be careful and check on-line as well to see how well you can o.c your specific parts so you dont burn something =)

RE: Overclocking
Have a check to see the mhz on your ram an cpu. You may find 800mhz ram on a 1066mhz cpu (q6600) will limit you when adjusting the FSB in the bios
