RE: WoW scam emails
Yeah there are loads of such mails floating about unfortunately. Sad

Key things are:

1) Get an authenticator. They're (depanding on offers and locality) either free or up to 6euros each, or free in app form if you've got a poncy phone. Good news is that it will make your wow account probably more secure than any online banking you do. Although thats probably bad news as well, as it suggests certain banks are dogshit but then we knew that already. Tongue

2) Never click on a link in a mail that claims to be from Blizzard. In the unlikely event it is actually from Blizzard (which will almost certainly mean you asked them to do something previously), still don't click on the link but go to battle.net directly (type it into your browser navigation bar) and do whatever you need to from there.

3) Get an authenticator.

4) Your browser should show where a link actually goes at the bottom of the page when you mouse over it. Quite a few mails will claim to go to battle.net or other real sounding places but actually go to http://www.notascam-honest.com/haxx.php or something - the actual real address will usually show up at the bottom of your browser when you mouse over the link. But you weren't going to click on the link anyway, right?

5) Really, get an authenticator. Smile

Do you and eita still play wow?
I transferred to Earthen Ring around christmas for a bash and have been having a surprising amount of fun there since, even found a sane raiding group. :o

/edit Hakon!
It'll be as long as you resist posting your email address on anything even remotely game related that is public - even if the email itself isn't published. Includes review sites and guild forums, especially the ones which are "prepackaged" and hosted by one of those companies where guilds can rent the whole thing - forums, kill lists etc - as a done deal and not worry about support themselves. Not sure how, might just be the big games sites selling addresses, but it's amazing really - make a new address with something unlikely to be hit by a random generator, use it once to post a comment on wow.com and count how much spam you get in the next week. Know...Im just enjoying being "unknown" for a small period of time Smile

Talking about email/battlenet.net addresses, any of you using the "add friend" by using those in WoW&SC2. Amazing really, can keep in touch with people playing WoW and SC2 regardless server, realm etc... Smile

RE: WoW scam emails
Hey Trey no we not playing WoW atm and tbh we haven't since november 08.
why they decided to try it after so long is silly and made us suspicious. I phoned Blizzard just to confirm nothing was wrong with both our accounts and they both ok.

We still playing Daoc atm on Hib and making lots of friends in DF (not) when we kill everything. There was a mexican group running around for a bit and apparently we now get called that lame mexican group even though we cant speak mexican Tongue

RE: WoW scam emails
I'm currently back on wow too, had a few of these emails and also had morons in game whispering me with the same type of bullshit, your account is compromised and will be suspended until you go to this web address. or the latest scam is an in game whisper telling you that you have been picked by blizzard to own an exclusive in game companion, but you have to go to a website to get it...

I'm playing on moonglade alliance, got my own raiding guild, so far we have done 9/12 bosses on icc10 normal, 7/12 icc25 normal. Also loving it, as its an complete change to playing camelot.
