We were founded in Spring 2003.
We originally began in Dark Age of Camelot, which is a game made by Mythic, playing on the European Prydwen server for Albion. We then moved over to the Excalibur Server where we decided to play on the Midgard realm. After a few years, when Dark Age of Camelot began to die out, we spread our wings to various other games, including Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, Lord of the Rings Online, EvE Online, World of Warcraft, City of Heroes, and many others. We now are most active on Warhammer Online.
Ste would be the best person to ask for this, as it was him who decided the name. It would probably have mostly to do with being a fan of Action Force many years ago.
Warhammer Online: Order - Although we have some players on Destruction too. Dark Age of Camelot: Midgard (Euro), Albion/Hibernia (US)
We don't like to categorize Red Shadows. We are neither casual or elitist, and yet, we are both. Real life comes first, and as such, we do not expect you to treat a game like a job. However, we will always push ourselves to the limit. Sometimes we like to relax, but we like to do things our way. We believe in honor and integrity, but if someone pushes us we will respond ten fold. We're the type of people that like to challenge ourselves, there is no "can't" here. If someone says it takes 40 people for a certain obstacle, we try it with 30 or 20. We do not follow other guilds, we make our own path.
For the most part, we treat our guild like a family. Every member here has a voice, and everyone has a say in any major guild changes. No major changes will occur without you knowing about it, unless you don't read the forums or pay attention. The Officers are there to help run the guild, keep everyone in line help to make sure things run smoothly and that everyone is having fun. Essentially the Officers are the people willing to go above and beyond to help out. But we listen to what members think just as much as any officer.
We have no time requirement. The amount of effort you put forth in the game and towards the guild simply affects your place in the guild. If you just log on the game, don't talk much, don't participate in activities or the forums or get on voice chat, you will be rather low on the totem pole. But if you enjoy organizing groups to help guildies, are active on game and on the forums, you will quickly rise. It all depends on what you want out of the guild. The point is, though everyone has a voice in the guild, its hard for everyone to have an equal voice. If one member is active, participates in events and is constantly helping members, where as another member doesn't do squat, well, it is sometimes difficult to give the two equal weight.
Yes, we use Ventrilo. It is not mandatory to be on our chat server, though it doesn't hurt to be on it sometimes. However, there will be times when we have an event where Ventrilo is used and would be useful connecting, you don't have to talk, or even have a mic, just be on to listen. It is highly recommended you have Ventrilo or participating in guild events will be difficult for you.
Well if you have not yet done so, I recommend grouping with our members to see how well you mesh. I also recommend posting on our forums, and keeping in track with members on game as you get to know them. If you are confident you wish to join, post your Application on the forum or contact an officer of the Guild.
